Differences Between the Karcher K2 vs K4

1. The K4 models work with considerably more water pressure, which is why the cleaning power is stronger. This allows the same area to be cleaned in less time and more thoroughly.
   
   
2. The K4 models are much more comfortable than the K2 models. This is particularly noticeable when working for longer periods.

3. The K2 models are much cheaper than the K4. With discounts, it is not uncommon to buy them for under £100. The K4 models usually cost at least twice as much.

Comparing the Karcher K2 and K4

The table below compares the two models, the entry level K2 version and the new improved Karcher K4 full control model.

In terms of specification the K4 model packs a bigger punch and benefits from improvements in all areas, from the pressure and water flow, to features such as a longer hose, a water cooled motor and the new LED display lance.

Karcher K2

The K2 series consists of the smaller Compact and the somewhat larger K4 Power Control.

The smaller K2 model is a compact and portable, well-designed unit that still packs a punch, with 110 bar pressure and a water flow of 360l/h. It is ideal for smaller tasks such as washing down your patio furniture, bike or car.

The K2 Power Control offers about the same cleaning power but is much more comfortable. Thanks to the longer pressure hose, detergent tank and more, it is easier to work with.

Both devices are very light and easy to carry. They are therefore perfect and ideal for people that live in a flat as you can easily transport it downstairs.

Both are entry-level devices; the K2 Compact is ideal for people with a limited budget, those who want a little more comfort should look at the K2 Power Control.

If you want something a little more powerful, you have the storage space and want something to really clean your car with, then the K4 maybe a better investment.

Karcher K4

The K4 series also starts with the affordable Compact model, followed by the more comfortable K4 Power Control. In addition, the K4 Premium Power Control is available. It has a hose reel, but apart from that, the unit is absolutely identical to the Power Control.

In terms of cleaning power and versatility, both models are practically identical. However, the K4 Power Control offers much more comfort. Thanks to the plug n clean system, it is very easy to clean with detergent, the storage for the pressure hose and power cable is handier, and the unit is slightly quieter.

The K4 Premium Power Control is brilliant thanks to the hose reel. This makes it absolutely effortless to roll up and unroll the pressure hose. If you use the machine often, you will appreciate this feature enormously.

K2 Vs K4. Which is better?

If you ignore the price then the K4 is the better pressure washer; it is more powerful, has a higher water flow, is suited to more tasks and has more features. Although the K4 is the better device it may not mean it is the best for you; you may not intend to use it for tasks that require that extra power which means the K2 maybe the better power washer for you.

While the K4 is more powerful it also comes with the new LED trigger gun making it easier to know which setting to be on for what task, it also has a longer hose making it easier to move around and wash your car. The K4 has a water-cooled motor compared to the air cooled motor on the K2. Other differences are the plug n clean detergent intake on the K4 where the K2 just has a suction tube.

The home models of the K2 and K4 come with a patio attachment, the K2 has a T150 Patio cleaner which is quite basic compared to the K4 which has the T350 T-Racer Surface Cleaner with handles on it allowing for vertical cleaning. This makes it ideal for cleaning down your garage door for example.

Which should you buy?

If you are buying your first pressure washer for some light tasks then the K2 is perfect. It is a great entry level model and has enough power to wash your cars, bikes, and tackle a patio. If you are looking for something that you plan to use each week or a few times a month then you may want to invest in the K4. Although more expensive, it has more power making it better for more tasks; it will make pressure washing your patio and driveway quicker and easier and the extra power will also improve the results by removing and kicking up even more dirt.
