Best Cordless Pressure Washer
Published By - 12th May 2022
If you want to clean something heavily soiled, but you don’t have a power connection, you need a cordless pressure washer.
These practical devices run on batteries and can draw water from an external source (bucket, barrel, lake, river etc) or from a built-in tank.
They are particularly suitable for cleaning small cars, bicycles, bikes, garden tools, garden furniture or boats.
I have tested some of the most popular portable models and will show you the top cordless pressure washers available in the UK.
Best Cordless Pressure Washer UK
It has at least the same built quality and cleans as well as any other portable jet washer. But there are two reasons that make it stand out:
- Thanks to the long lance it is much more comfortable to clean with
- Large battery selection. Unlike all other suppliers, you can buy not only the original Worx batteries but also non-name clones that fit perfectly. In addition, you can choose between different sizes from 2.0 Ah to 5.0 Ah. And finally, the batteries can be used for all cordless Worx tools.
Thanks to the 15 l tank you can comfortably clean an entire small car or two bicycles.
The Battery capacity is sufficient to empty 2 tanks.
Additionally, the device is of good quality and has a well-thought-through design (all accessories can be conveniently stored in the unit itself). Thanks to the wheels and the telescopic handle it can be moved comfortably.
This low-pressure washer is kind of a mobile water tap. It only makes sense for one purpose:
Washing dirt off shoes, bicycles or your dog before putting them in a car or a tent after a muddy walk. But for this, it's perfect!
The device is very easy to set up and the tank capacity is just enough to wash off the heaviest dirt.

What is a cordless pressure washer?
A cordless pressure washer is a cleaning device that uses pressurized water to clean different surfaces. As the name suggests, it’s cordless, meaning that it doesn’t require a power outlet to operate. Instead, it’s powered by a rechargeable battery, which makes it a portable and convenient cleaning tool.
Types of cordless pressure washers
Cordless pressure washers come in different types, each with unique features and benefits. Two common types of cordless pressure washers are models with a tank and models without a tank. Let’s take a closer look at each type.
Cordless Pressure Washers with a Tank
They are designed with a built-in water tank that allows the user to move around freely without being tethered to a garden hose, water source or power outlet. These pressure washers are ideal for outdoor cleaning tasks such as washing cars, boats, and bikes, as well as for cleaning patios, decks, and fences.
Cordless pressure washers without a tank
These pressure washers are powered by a rechargeable battery and connect directly to a garden hose or water source, without the need for a tank. They are usually somewhat smaller, lighter and also cheaper than the models with a water tank.

Cordless pressure washers reviews
If you look at customer comments in the large online shops, you will see that a relatively large number of customers are dissatisfied (65% on average). This is true for almost all portable pressure washers. The main reason is that people are disappointed with the performance or with the water pressure. Many have seen a TV commercial, ordered a cordless and then expected a real pressure washer. But:
The cordless models are not real pressure washers; they are, at best, medium pressure washers. But for smaller jobs that don’t take a lot of time and don’t need a lot of power, the cordless are extremely practical and helpful, but not for large, heavily soiled cars, patios, driveways, etc.
The exception is the Karcher OC3. Here, most buyers are satisfied. Obviously, they were not expecting a high-pressure cleaner; they were looking for a practical, portable device that can easily be used to clean children, dogs and even bikes quickly and easily after a muddy walk, without soiling the car.

Cordless reviews conclusion
Bottom line: cordless pressure washers work perfectly and reliably. To ensure that you are optimally satisfied with your purchase, you should consider these points:
- Do not expect a real top pressure washer (the most powerful portable pressure washers work with a pressure of 25 Bar). The smallest, real pressure washers (such as the Kärcher K2) work with four times more pressure than the best cordless pressure washer.
- Buy a fast charger (saves you a lot of time; with normal chargers, it can take hours for the batteries to fill up).
- Buy a second battery (massive run time extension).
- Buy batteries with as much Ampere Hours (Ah) as possible (=longer run time).
- Make sure you always have enough water with you (for models with a water tank or if you can only suck water from a bucket.

How to choose a battery powered pressure washer
You need to think very carefully about what you want to use the cordless pressure washer for.
That is, how large is the area to be cleaned, how soiled is the object? Do you have easy access to a container filled with water or to a river or even a lake?
Remember, a cordless jet washer is not a real pressure washer. By way of comparison, the water pressure of the most powerful cordless pressure washer is three times lower than that of the weakest Kärcher, the K2 Compact model.
In addition, the batteries only last for a limited time and if you are sucking water from a container, it will run out quite quickly.
Therefore, portable pressure washers are only suitable for smaller cleaning tasks and smaller areas. For heavily soiled, large areas not even the best cordless pressure washers can complete the task. Here you need a conventional pressure washer with at least 100 bar water pressure.
What makes a good battery powered pressure washer?
A top portable pressure washer can do the job easily. The chart below shows you which portable pressure washer is suitable for which task. These are the factors to consider when purchasing.
- The water pressure
Not every cordless pressure washer offers the same water pressure. The more dirt you have, the more bar you need. Most cordless models operate at around 22 bar, which is sufficient to clean a bicycle or thoroughly remove surface dirt. The most powerful cordless pressure washers operate at 25 bar. - The battery capacity
Two things must be kept in mind here. How long does it take for the battery to run down? And how long does it take to recharge the battery? With a standard 20 V / 2.0 Ah battery, you can work for about 12 minutes. With a fast charger (strongly recommended), it takes about 30 minutes to charge a 20 V / 2.0 Ah battery.
It is usually worth buying a second battery to double the working time or buying a larger one with more Ah capacity. - The weight
Most cordless pressure washers are lightweight, but there are differences.
They usually weigh between 2 and 4 kilograms. You should therefore consider how long you can work with these weights.
Cordless Pressure Washer Batteries Guide
Almost all cordless tools (including pressure washers of course) work with lithium-ion batteries (Li-Ion). They have been around since 1991 and offer some big advantages:
- They last longer
- They can store a lot of energy
- They don’t have a memory effect (i.e., they don’t die more quickly if you charge or discharge them incorrectly)
- They are relatively small
The disadvantage is that they are expensive.
These key figures are important:
Voltage:
How much strength the battery can deliver. The higher the voltage, the more power the battery has. This in turn depends on the work that needs to be done with the device.
Most cordless pressure washers without a tank work with a 20V or a 18V battery.
Ampere-Hour (Ah)
How much energy a battery can store (similar to the fuel tank of a car). In concrete terms, it means how much power the battery can supply in one hour. This means that the more Ah your battery has, the longer you can work with the device.
Life cycle
The typical life span of a Li-Ion battery is about 300- 500 charge cycles. One charge cycle is from fully discharged to fully charged.
Battery charge time (fast charger)
Ampere-Hour | Charge time |
2.0 | 25 minutes |
2.5 | 30 minutes |
4.0 | 45 minutes |
5.0 | 60 minutes |
